A quintessentially Portuguese ship with a boutique-hotel feel, MS Douro Elegance is designed for life on the Douro.
Built for the Douro, MS Douro Elegance has the feel of a classic Portuguese boutique hotel that happens to float.
Warm woods, rich colours and intimate spaces make her immediately cosy and welcoming.
Carrying just 119 guests, she’s small enough that you’ll know most of the faces by day two – and a generous crew-to-guest ratio means the service is attentive without ever feeling formal.
The heart of the ship is the restaurant and bar, where relaxed meals and easy conversation flow naturally into one another. It's the kind of place where evenings have a habit of lasted longer than planned.
Up on the inviting Sun Deck, there’s plenty of space to relax in the sunshine with a drink and a book, to have a chat with new friends, or just to watch the beautiful Douro Valley drift by. When the weather heats up, there’s a splash pool to cool off.
Dining on Board
Mornings start gently with a hot and cold breakfast buffet and made-to-order omelette station. Lunch is easy and relaxed, with something to suit whatever pace you’ve settled into.
Come evening, the restaurant comes into its own – attentive service, an open seating policy and a menu that moves between Portuguese, Mediterranean and international flavours. Best enjoyed slowly, watching the Douro slip past through the panoramic windows.
Deck Plan
Sun Deck
The Sun Deck is where the Douro really opens up wide skies, fresh air and uninterrupted views in every direction. Settle into a sun lounger, cool off in the splash pool, or simply lean on the rail and watch the valley life drift by at a gentle pace.
For those who like to know what’s going on, the bridge is nearby if you fancy a glimpse of the captain at work.
Please note: the Sun Deck is accessible by stairs only.
Upper Deck
Boarding via the welcoming entrance lobby on the Upper Deck, immediately you will be struck by the crisp, contemporary yet classically stylish décor befitting this five-star ship.
Complimentary tea and coffee is always available here too and there is a small boutique stocking a selection of essentials and souvenirs. Then forward you will find the magnificent lounge and bar, the very heart of the ship, styled by a leading Portuguese designer – your holiday starts here! A well-stocked bar with friendly professional staff taking delight in attending to your every wish in sampling local wines or preparing whatever takes your fancy completes the convivial scene. So just sit back and enjoy the stunning view from the magnificent panoramic windows as the ever-changing river scenery slips effortlessly by. When evening falls, the subdued lighting creates the most gentile ambience so unwind over a digestif or perhaps take a turn on the dance floor to the soothing tones of the resident musician. There really can be few holidays quite as relaxing as this!
Middle Deck
The Middle Deck is home to the restaurant — warm, intimate and dressed with crisp linen at tables for four to eight. Open dining means you sit wherever and with whomever you please. Breakfast is a generous buffet with an omelette station; early risers can find something lighter in the lounge. Lunch brings soups, mains and a salad spread. The four-course dinner is the real highlight — Portuguese, Mediterranean and international dishes served with quiet, attentive care as the Douro drifts past the panoramic windows. The ship's spa is also on this deck.
Lower Deck
Down on the Lower Deck, a compact but well-equipped fitness room is on hand for anyone looking to balance those four-course dinners with a little exercise between port calls.
